THREE teenagers have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the stomach and two others injured outside a pub in Birkenhead.

Emergency services were called at around 1.05am to outside the Crown pub on Conway Street on Sunday, June 23 following reports that a man and woman in their 20s had been confronted by a gang of yobs.

The man was stabbed in the stomach and is believed to be in a serious but non-life threatening condition while the woman sustained minor injuries.

A man in his 50s, who had stepped in to help, was also punched during the incident.

Three males aged 16, 17 and 18, all from Birkenhead, were arrested on suspicion of assault and have been taken to a police station for questioning. 

CCTV and witness enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Detective chief inspector Gayle Rooney said: “We know there were a lot of people in the area at this busy time in the early hours and I would ask anyone with information to come forward.

“Knife crime is unacceptable in our communities and we will do our utmost to ensure those responsible are put before the courts and brought to justice.”
