A TEENAGE boy was robbed at knifepoint by two masked men for his mobile phone in Tranmere.

At around 8.20pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 18) a 17-year-old boy was walking along Agnes Road before he was followed by two men who had been sitting on a bench as he walked past.

The men, who wore hooded coats, masks and gloves then confronted the teen, threatening him with knives before demanding his mobile phone.

They snatched the phone before running towards Sidney Road.

Merseyside Police confirmed enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Detective chief inspector Robbie Moss said: "This incident would've been incredibly unnerving for the victim and thankfully he was not injured, but we are committed to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice.

"CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out and I would ask anyone in Agnes Road or the surrounding areas to please contact us if you saw the incident or have any information.

"Knife crime has no place in our communities and we will act on all information given to us.

"You may have seen the incident itself or the offenders making off from the scene and any information, no matter how small, could prove vital to our investigation.
