CHILDREN from ten Wirral nurseries have managed to raise £2,000 after hosting superhero and princess themed tea parties for Child Bereavement UK.

Busy Bees nurseries across the borough held the parties from 3 to 7 June to help support families and educate people when a child is dealing with bereavement or when a baby or child of any age dies.

Each nursery welcomed guest of honour Hetty the elephant who is Child Bereavement UK's mascot while children enjoyed raffles and cake sales.

Regional director at Busy Bees Nicky Conway told the Globe: “The parents, children and staff at the nurseries have really got into the fundraising spirit.

Wirral Globe:

"Child Bereavement UK does such important work helping families and children through bereavement.

"They’re the real superheroes and we’re so proud to support them.”

With 375 nurseries across the UK, Busy Bees has already raised an astonishing £100,000 for the charity and will continue to work with them until 2020.

Chief executive at Child Bereavement UK Ann Chalmers said: “Hetty received a lovely welcome from the children and staff at Busy Bees.

"The nurseries are helping us to raise valuable funds that allow us to continue our work to support families and educate professionals when a child grieves or when a child dies.”
