THE Birkenhead branch of the Linen Warehouse has closed after the company went into administration.

Administrators BDO revealed that it will close 19 stores after The Towel Rail Limited, who operates as Linen Warehouse and Yorkshire Linen Company, went into administration on Thursday, June 13, citing challenges on the high street as the reason for the closure.

Among the Pyramids Shopping Centre shop closure, others confirmed include Liverpool and Warrington and overall it is believed more than 130 jobs will be lost as a result.

The news comes after the Yorkshire-based company closed of eight stores as part of a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) four months ago.

Graham Newton, from BDO, said: "Extremely unpredictable market conditions, coupled with the well documented challenges facing High Street retailers have had a significant negative impact on trading in recent months.

"Despite the considerable efforts of management and their team, it has not been possible to secure a sustainable future for the business."

A message on the Yorkshire Linen website says: "The Towel Rail Limited trading as Yorkshire Linen and Linen Warehouse has been placed into administration today, 13 June 2019.

"The Joint Administrators are Francis Graham Newton and Sarah Megan Rayment, partners at BDO LLP. The Company has ceased to trade with immediate effect.
