A NEW interim chief executive has been appointed to Wirral Council.

Currently the council's corporate director for business management, Paul Satoor will take up post next month after the current chief executive Eric Robinson leaves the authority for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Mr Satoor has been closely involved in the creation of Wirral Growth Company and is the council's lead officer for the Local Plan.

Before joining the council in 2017, Mr Satoor was director of organisational development and strategy and deputy chief executive of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

The Employment and Appointments Panel agreed at its meeting on Wednesday, June 12 to recommend Mr Satoor's appointment to the next full council meeting on July 15.

Leader of Wirral Council Cllr Pat Hackett told the Globe: “Paul Satoor’s appointment as Wirral Council’s new chief executive, subject to council approval, is great news for this authority.

"He has a strong track record in transforming and improving services, combined with the local knowledge and experience required to guide the council through the challenges and opportunities of the coming months.”

Last month it revealed that Mr Robinson would be stepping down from his role as chief executive to take up a similar role at the DBS.

In an email sent by Mr Robinson to Wirral Council staff he says that he believes that "Wirral and Wirral Council, is in a better place now than it was four years ago."
