AN IMITATION gun and cash were seized during a raid in Woodchurch.

At around 12.30am on Wednesday, June 12 officers carried out a raid at a house in Grasswood Road and recovered a BB handgun and cash.

Enquiries into the raid are ongoing and the gun has been seized for forensic testing.

Inspector Chris Lucan-Pratt from Wirral Targeted Team said: “Imitation firearms have the potential to cause fear, intimidation and harm in our communities so it is a relief to see one removed from the streets.

"We will continue to act swiftly and decisively when we receive information on the storage of weapons and other items.

“You can provide information in a number of ways, directly to police, via our partners including housing agencies and Wirral Council, or anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers, which is completely independent of police.

"However you tell us, tell us and we’ll make your area safer.”

Anyone with information on weapons being stored in the community is asked to contact Merseyside Police via social media @MerPolCC, call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
