A TEAM of ten volunteers undertook the fastest zipline in the world to raise funds for a charity supporting children with cerebral palsy.

The ten adrenaline junkies - whizzed over Penrhyn Quarry in Snowdonia, at 100mph, 500m above the ground and raised £3,400 so far for the Stick'n' Step.

The charity, which has centres in Wallasey and Runcorn, provides free of charge conductive education for children from across the region with cerebral palsy.

Among the daring volunteers who took part in the zipline is Simon, whose five year old son Oscar has been attending Stick ‘n’ Step since he was 18 months old.

He said: "Stick 'n' Step has been a brilliant support for our family.

"The weekly sessions at Stick ‘n’ Step have helped Oscar become a more confident little boy as well as helping him make the most of his ability.

"He can now kneel up, crawl and walk a short distance with a walking frame. Through Stick ‘n’ Step we have also built up a great support network of other parents, who face similar challenges to us.

"As a family, we are determined to help Stick 'n' Step raise much-needed funds, which is why I signed up for the zipwire challenge, along with two of my friends."

Jenny Snell, head of fundraising at Stick'n'Step, said: "Parents, friends and supporters from businesses across the region, as well as Stick 'n' Step employees took part in this challenge together.

"Some of them have no head for heights so it was an especially huge accomplishment for them. We are very grateful to everyone who helped make it happen."
