DOZENS of knives collected during an amnesty will now be made into a sculpture, police have said.

The blades, including bread knives, pockets knives and a cleaver, will be fashioned into a work of art by a specialist.

The Blackbird Leys neighbourhood team delivered the knives to the artist yesterday.

Officers said it was a chance to turn something dangerous into something 'beautiful.'

During the last amnesty, held in March, 345 knives were handed in to police stations across Oxfordshire.

The design and location of the sculpture has not yet been revealed.
