MERSEYSIDE Police are investigating reports of criminal damage caused to vehicles in the Wallasey area today, Saturday.

It is believed two mopeds were witnessed riding in tandem around the Rake Lane area of Liscard causing damage to parked cars.

At 1.35pm it was reported that one of the mopeds was in collision with a silver car near the junction of Rake Lane and Longland Road.

The pillion passenger on the moped, a 13 year-old boy who was not wearing a helmet, was injured during the collision and has been taken to hospital with a broken arm and leg. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The moped on which the boy was a passenger was abandoned at the scene. The second bike left the area.

The silver car did not remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of what took place leading up to the incident.

Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: “This investigation is at an early stage but we do believe damage may have been caused to vehicles in the Rake Lane area this afternoon.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area who witnessed anything or anyone who believes they have dash-cam footage which may have captured anything significant to get in touch.

"I would also ask for anyone who believes their vehicle has been damaged this afternoon to contact us.

“We are also keen to trace the driver of the silver car as we believe they have information which could be vital to our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log 429 of 8th June.
