POLICE have launched an investigation after a suspected arson attack at a derelict farmhouse near to Landican cemetery.

Emergency services were called just after 8pm on Wednesday, June 5 to Arrowe Park Road following reports a fire had broken out at an unoccupied building.

Six fire engines attended the scene with a combined platform ladder and discovered the detached two-storey building well alight.

The main fire was sectorised and firefighters used main branch hoses and hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

A police cordon was put in place but roads were reopened at around midnight.

Police confirmed that although enquiries are at a "very early stage" they believe the fire had been started deliberately.

A police spokesman told the Globe: "Enquiries into the fire are at a very early stage, but it is believed it may have been started deliberately.

"The building was unoccupied at the time and there are no reports of any injuries.

"CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."

Detectives are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Anyone with information, or may have captured footage on dashcam or CCTV is asked to call Merseyside Police on 101 quoting reference 19100291751.

Information can also be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
