A GOVERNMENT representative has accepted a request from Birkenhead’s MP Frank Field to visit the town and assess the potential for a major programme of infrastructure investment and job creation.
Mr Field is compiling a bid to the secretary of state of housing, communities, and local government for new monies to be spent on improving the area starting with street lighting and building renovations.
As part of that exercise a representative from the secretary of state’s office will visit Birkenhead in June to listen to concerns.
Ahead of that visit, the MP is appealing to residents to write to him with details of community buildings that are in need of renovations and street lights that are not working.
Mr Field said: “Birkenhead is in desperate need of a new investment programme.
“To help us compile as strong a bid as possible, might you please tell me which buildings require repairs and upgrades, which lamps are not working, and how long have they been out of action?”
