A PENSIONER was threatened by two masked burglars who snatched cash and a collection of watches from his Birkenhead home.

At around 11.45pm on Saturday, May 11 two masked men entered a home on Landsdowne Road.

The homeowner, a man in his 70s, tried to challenge the thugs but was pushed back in his chair and threatened.

Cash from a wallet and a bag containing watches were snatched during the incident before they ran away from the scene.

The bag contained the following watches: Ingersoll Ruby Diamond men’s watch; Ingersoll Ruby Diamond women’s watch; Stührling watch, gold, with a white face and brown strap; Stührling watch, gold skeleton with the mechanisms inside showing, and a brown strap; Slazenger Watch.

Anyone who has seen or been offered the items for sale since the incident is urged to get in touch with Merseyside Police.

Detective inspector Mike Dalton said: "The watches taken are of sentimental value as they had been collected over a period of many years by the owner, a man in his 70s.

“The victim was pushed back into his chair when he tried to challenge the offenders and, while he was not injured, it has been a particularly upsetting ordeal for him.

"If you recognise any of the watches or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Lansdowne Road area at around midnight on Saturday night, please contact police.

"I would ask the offenders to do the right thing and return the stolen items to the owner in any way possible.

"These items will be distinctive to anyone who may have been offered them, so I would urge anyone with information on either the items or those involved in this offence to contact police."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police via social media @MerPolCC, call 101 quoting incident reference 19100237132.
