It has been revealed an act of vandalism caused a fire overnight at Conway Park station in Birkenhead which led to the station's closure.
The damage caused disruption to services on the West Kirby and New Brighton lines.
A statement from Merseyrail said: "Conway Park station has been temporarily closed due to fire damage caused by an act of vandalism last night.
"Rail replacement buses were in operation this morning, but services are now running as normal at Conway Park.
"Passengers are advised to follow @merseyrail on Twitter or visit merseyrail.org for any further updates."
The station has now reopened.
