A MAN has been taken to hospital after being hit by a train in Hoylake.

Emergency services were called at around 9.50am today (Thursday, May 2) to Manor Road following reports that a person had been hit by a train.

British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that a man had been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Merseyrail confirmed that train services on the West Kirby line would resume at around 11.10am but warned some services may experience delays.

In recent years there have been several incidents on the West Kirby line between Manor Road and Hoylake.

In 2017, a man died after being struck by a train on a level crossing between the two stations.
