RECENTLY in Wirral, there were two homes for sale:- a £70,000 flat and a £1.3m house.
Current council tax on the flat is £1823.23 and on the house (which is 18.57 times pricier than the flat) is £3646.46 which is just twice the cost.
I am certainly not a socialist, but I believe that council tax should be much more closely related to house prices – if this were to happen then the extra income would provide "hard up"
councils to restore all the services that have been abandoned, and would stabilise housing prices.
