A HOSPITAL clerk from Moreton fined for allegedly leaving her vehicle in a Wirral foodstore's car park overnight is disputing the penalty.

Jayne Sinnett told the Globe of her shock after being targeted by a firm called Civil Enforcement Ltd, who claim she had parked at the Heron Food's site on Hoylake Road in Moreton from April 6 until the following day.

The 60-year-old is adamant that she had not been parked overnight and has appealed the £60 ticket, which will increase to £100 if not paid within 14 days.

Moreton resident Mrs Sinnett said she had bought food from the store on April 6, for which she still has the receipt, and left the car park just over an hour later.

She had been to a car boot sale at Countess of Chester Hospital the following morning and returned to Moreton that afternoon for a pub lunch at The Farmers pub nearly, leaving just over an hour later.

Mrs Sinnett is among a number of Globe readers who feel they have been unfairly fined.

There is a maximum of two hours' free parking at the site and Mrs Sinnett is a regular user and shopper at Heron Foods.

Mrs Sinnett, as an inpatient ward clerk at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, said: "I've never parked illegally in my life and feel they are trying to take advantage.

"I'm totally stressed out about this as people are saying I could end up in court if I don't pay.

"I shouldn't have to pay as I didn't overstay the two-hour time limit. I’ve parked there numerous times as I live local.

"We would never leave our car overnight in an insecure car park especially as we'd only purchased it a couple of weeks earlier.

"We did not leave the car overnight in the Heron car park.

"Why would I leave frozen food in my car for 24 hours?

"We also would never leave our car overnight in an insecure car park especially as we’d only purchased it a couple of weeks earlier.

"They have photographed my car arriving on April 6, but didn't photograph us leaving.

"That's probably because we were parked behind the HGV delivering to Heron Foods as we came out.

"For some unknown reason they didn't get a photograph of us arriving on April 7, but conveniently got one of us leaving."

Heron Foods declined to comment on the situation.

Civil Enforcement Ltd have also been approached for comment.
