CHILDREN will now be able to drive a new mini sports car to operation theatres in Arrowe Park.

The red electric toy car, bought with WUTH Charity funds, has been introduced in a bid too make the experience of going for an operation less scary for youngsters.

Three-year-old Jack Cringle, from Bromborough, was the first to try out the new car before surgery to remove his tonsils and adenoids.

His parents, Karen and Jonathan explained to him beforehand about the operation but say his nerves disappeared when he saw the car.

They told the Globe: “The car has made a massive difference to Jack’s experience going to theatre. If offered, I would recommend the car to any parent.

"He even jumped out of the car and onto the trolley in the anaesthetic room with a smile on his face.”

Jack even asked to see the car again after his operation.

Gaynor Westray, executive director of nursing and midwifery said: “We’re delighted that we could make this experience more positive for Jack and that he is now recovering well.

"Going for an operation can be a scary experience for children and we try to do all we can to alleviate those nerves.

"Something simple like making the experience a little more fun for children can make a huge difference.”
