A nationwide tour by a leading veterinary charity will roll into Birkenhead later this month offering free pet health checks and advice to pet owners.

The PDSA's PetWise tour is part of its mission to help every pet live a happy, healthy life.

The tour features a state-of-the-art £250,000 mobile unit which will be used to provide services including vaccination clinics and free pet "MoTs."

The 18-tonne vehicle was purchased with support from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

PDSA vet nurse Becca Schofield said: “People in Birkenhead are very lucky as this is one of the first places in the UK to benefit from our new PetWise vehicle offering state-of-the-art facilities so we can help pets and their owners.

“We know people love their pets and want the best for them, which is why PDSA is here to help. "

A PDSA team will be on board the new unit carrying out vaccinations, by appointment, and dispensing flea and worm treatments for existing PDSA clients, as well as offering free pet wellbeing checks and general pet health advice for the general public.
