SOMEONE keeps dumping used nappies and “dirty wipes full of faeces” around this Merseyside area.

Residents of Moreton and Upton have voiced their disgust at the problem, with both children’s and adults’ nappies reportedly found on multiple occasions since January.

There have been various posts on social media about the issue in recent weeks, and Wirral Council confirmed on Monday it was aware of the issue – having received specific reports from Fender View Road and Upton Park.

Janet Mcarthur wrote on Facebook back in January: “Someone really dirty or unwell keeps dumping adult nappies and child nappies and dirty wipes full of faeces on the footpath at the back of Fender View Road. I have had a camera installed and have reported it to the council.

“I think it’s absolutely disgusting to do this to our area knowing there are a lot of children that play there including mine.

“It is a lovely place to live and it should be kept that way, you are inhumane to think this is acceptable. I am not tolerating this in our area.”

Commenting on her post, another social media user said there was something “very strange going on”, adding that nappies are often put “in the branches of the trees”. She added that she was “gob-smacked” by the situation.

A third Facebook user reported finding a pile of used toilet roll on Fender View Road, calling the act “vile”.

A fourth said she had seen a dumped nappy as recently as last week.

On Monday, Cllr Anita Leech, ward member for Leasowe and Moreton East, said used nappies had been left in Upton Park on “several” occasions in recent months.

She added: “We are aware of the problem with the nappies being dumped [in the area].

“Environmental health are aware of the situation and they are looking into it.”

A Wirral Council spokesman confirmed the authority had received two reports back in January of “fly-tipping” incidents on Fender View Road.

He added: “On both occasions, we had an officer out within a couple of hours of receiving the report, but by the time they got there, the items had been removed.”
