MERSEYSIDE music legend Gerry Marsden will take a Ferry 'Cross The Mersey to officially launch Liverpool's latest riverside visitor attraction.

Lead singer of Gerry & the Pacemakers, the 76-year-old will launch Royal Liver Building 360 (RLB360) on the 10th floor of the iconic building.

After making a journey across the ferry from Wirral to Liverpool, Gerry will be serenaded by the SingMe Merseyside choir before visiting the new centre.

He told the Globe: "I was thrilled to have been invited to officially launch RLB360 and unlock the stunning views from the city’s most iconic building.

“Along with the Mersey Ferries I helped make famous, the Royal Liver Building has always been a landmark that people around the world recognise and it makes me very proud to be opening the building for local people and tourists from across the globe to enjoy.”

RLB360 is a new world-class visitor attraction which is designed delivered and operated by Heritage Great Britain in partnership with Corestate.

Visitors to the attraction will be able to start their journeys on the lower ground floor visitor centre where they will learn about the building's history.

After viewing the exhibitions, guests will then head to the tenth and fifteenth floors to enjoy 360° views of the Liverpool skyline and experience a world-class projection show inside the historic clock tower.

Chief executive of Heritage Great Britain, Allan Leech said: "We’re proud to be bringing together three Mersey icons, the ferry, Gerry Marsden and the Royal Liver Building itself.

“People were blown away by our exclusive previews of the Clock Tower audio-visual experience and we can’t wait to unveil the full 9-minute immersive show to visitors, before giving them the chance, at last, to enjoy panoramic Liver Bird’s eye views across Merseyside.”

The launch event will take place on Tuesday, April 2 at 12.30pm.
