A JELLY Welly Walk challenge in aid of a Wirral charity helping children with cerebral palsy is taking place until the end of this month.

Children from more than 55 nurseries across the region are filling their wellies with jelly or splashing in a bath or trough full of the squidgy stuff to raise cash for Stick'n'Step, which offers support services to children with cerebral palsy and their families.

It provides totally free of charge conductive education sessions, allowing children to gain the skills they need to live independent lives..

The event is taking place as part of cerebral palsy awareness month.

Jenny Snell, the charity's head of fundraising, said: "Around 30,000 children in the UK have cerebral palsy.

"In cerebral palsy awareness month we want to build awareness of the condition and also the work we do at our centres to help every child who comes to our classes achieve their own individual potential.”

"The Jelly Welly Walk aims to build awareness of the condition and also the work we do at our two centres to help every child who comes to our classes achieve their own individual potential.

"It's also going to be a lot of fun for all the nurseries and children who get involved!"

The walk is sponsored by B&M Waste, who will present the nursery which raises the most money with a £100 voucher to invest in recycling.

Jayne Kennedy, the firm's marketing manager, said: "The Jelly Welly Walk from Stick 'n' Step is a fun (and jelly!)-filled day that B&M Waste is proud to be supporting.

"It's a great way to involve children from the local community and, as a local, family-run business. It's completely aligned with our values."

Stick 'n' Step offers support services to children with cerebral palsy and their families.

It provides totally free of charge conductive education sessions, allowing children to gain the skills they need to live independent lives.

In total, 94 children from across the region attend the sessions weekly or twice weekly at the charity's Wallasey and Runcorn centres.
