A COMMUNITY project in New Brighton has received a cash boost thanks to the National Lottery.

Get Together New Brighton received £10,000 of the £1.6m fund raised by lottery players for good causes.

The project, from New Brighton Community Association, will use the cash to provide a forum for people in the local community to get together and reduce loneliness.

It is one of 91 community projects across Merseyside receiving a share of the funding.

Head of Funding for the North West region at The National Lottery Community Fund Jenny Rouse said: “National Lottery money continues to change the lives of thousands of people across Merseyside.

"From community-led projects that deal with mental health and wellbeing to those looking at ways to reduce loneliness and isolation amongst people in the community, this quarter’s funding has one thing in common – it’s all been awarded to groups with the ideas, knowledge and passion to make the changes they want to see in their local area.

"Thanks to National Lottery players, projects like New Brighton Community Association are investing in what matters most to them and their community.”

Other organisations in Merseyside that received funding included Respect the Line in West Derby, Ju-jitsu lifestyle in Walton, Veterans in Sefton and My Community Network Group in Liverpool.
