A TEENAGER has been arrested after a boy was taken to hospital after being stabbed during a 'dispute' Birkenhead.

Emergency services were called at around 4pm on Tuesday, February 19 to Ilchester Road following reports that two teens were involved in a dispute.

A 14-year-old boy, from Birkenhead, was stabbed in the armpit during the incident and was taken to hospital for surgery.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Detectives are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information to come forward.

Detective inspector Laura Lamping said: “This incident took place on a busy junction in daylight hours.

"Were you passing by on foot or in a vehicle and saw what you might have thought was an innocuous disagreement between two boys?

“Your account, dashcam or CCTV footage could be absolutely vital in our investigation, so come forward and we will do the rest.

“Knife crime can and does have devastating consequences to victims, their families and friends, and the lives of everyone around them.

"Thankfully, this incident didn’t result in a fatality, but so easily could have and I would implore anyone who knows the circumstances or who was responsible to do the right thing and help us remove dangerous people and their weapons from our streets.”
