WIRRAL Hospice St John's plan to replace furniture has been given a boost of more than £12,000 from the charitable arm of Morrison's.

The £12,747, from Morrisons Foundation will help the hospice replace all its wardrobes, lockers and over-bed tables on the inpatient ward.

Julia Evans, the hospice's fundraising manager, was presented with the donation from Ruth Gibson, community champion for New Brighton Morrisons and deputy store manager Rob Bonner.

The Morrisons Foundation was set up in 2015, to award grants for charity projects which help to improve people's lives.

Panto time

PANTOMIME Dick Whittington and his cat will be staged at Seacombe United Reformed Church in Brougham Road, Wallasey this Friday and Saturday.

The Friday performance is at 7.30pm.

Go dancing

DANCE sessions will be held at St Paul’s Church Hall in Little Sutton from next month.

They will take place at the venue in New Chester Road on March 14 and 28 and then the second and fourth Thursday of every month until December 19. 

The sessions will focus mainly on sequence with a bit of ballroom, Latin, jive, old-time and line-dance. It promises something for everyone from 14 to 96.

Bird club

HILBRE Island is the subject of coastal ranger Matt Thomas' illustrated talk to Wirral Bird Club next Thursday, February 28 at Kingsmead School Hall in Bertram Drive, Hoylake.

A CHARITY walk for Wirral Hospice St John's will be held in Birkenhead Park a week on Saturday, March 2.

Dvorak

ST Peters Singers, Heswall's Choral Society, will give a performance of Dvorak's Stabat Mater at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Heswall on Saturday, March 23 at 7.30pm.

Directed by Adrian Griffiths, the choir will be joined by soloists and the Summerstrand Ensemble.

GRAHAM Jones is Wirral Wildlife group's guest when it meets on Friday, March 8.

Lifeboat tale

LESSON from the past - a musical drama relating to the 1810 Hoylake Lifeboat disaster - is staged at West Kirby Arts Centre this weekend.
