AS a resident of Heswall for nearly 60 years, I was very dismayed to see that a lovely old tree on Telegraph Road, next to the Puddydale, has been cut down.
This is where shops are set back from the road with a grass area in front.
It was a delight in spring, summer and autumn and one of three very old trees. People liked to stop and visit the nearby cafes.
We are told it was cut down on a Sunday, which seems a bit strange.
Has the council an explanation for this?
The stump that's left seems very healthy.
June Molyneux, Heswall.
