STUDENTS from West Kirby Grammar School had the chance to quiz a senior Government minister when they held their own question time session.

The Conservative party's chairman James Cleverly visited the school along with Wirral West Parliamentary candidate, Laura Evans.

During the event the two explained how they got involved in politics and then took questions from the pupils, including ones on Brexit and the best way to get involved in politics locally.

Mr Cleverly, MP for Braintree, Essex said: "We had a fantastic question and answer session with the pupils and it was evident that Laura had a real rapport with the pupils at the school, who I could tell had a real interest in politics and current affairs.

"She talked about her back story, how she got involved in politics and overcame adversity, showing what you can achieve with hard work, before answering the questions from the students.

"I would like to thank both the school and Laura for inviting me.

"I think she will make a great MP and I look forward to working alongside her on the green benches."

Laura added: "I would also like to thank the school and James.

"It was really good to meet the pupils and inspiring to know that our future generation is just as passionate about politics as I am."
