WIRRAL Hospice St John's plan to replace furniture has been given a boost of more than £12,000 from the charitable arm of Morrison's.

The £12,747, from Morrisons Foundation will help the hospice replace all its wardrobes, lockers and over-bed tables on the inpatient ward.

Julia Evans, the hospice's fundraising manager, was presented with the donation from Ruth Gibson, community champion for New Brighton Morrisons and deputy store manager Rob Bonner.

The Morrisons Foundation was set up in 2015, to award grants for charity projects which help to improve people's lives.

It has since donated more than £24 million to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Julia Evans said: "We'd like to say a huge thank you to Ruth, Rob, and, in fact, everyone connected with Morrisons.

"The funding will make a real difference, enabling us to replace older furniture with more portable units which are easier to move.

"This will ensure our 16 bed inpatient ward stays immaculately clean."

Community champion Ruth Gibson said: "Wirral Hospice St John's is such an important charity which serves our Wirral community, touching our staff and our customers.

"We're delighted that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to make our heartfelt contribution."
