READERS of Wirral View, the council's regular news-sheet, will have read that flood defences at West Kirby are going to be improved.
That is good news for both residents and users alike, but to claim in the article that this is because "climate change over the next 100 years will continue to cause sea levels to rise" is incorrect.
The facts are that sea levels have been rising steadily for over 150 years, with no sign that they are currently rising any faster than they have ever been.
And future projections of sea level rise are based upon climate models that many scientists consider untrustworthy and unrealistic.
