I OFTEN frequent the Green Hut by the beach in Moreton at the end of Pasture Road.

It is a popular place not only with local people but also many from further afield and is being improved incrementally, making it increasingly attractive.

I was somewhat surprised to see a picture of Steve Williams, a local Conservative councillor, in their newsletter Newsline this week in a short article stating that they are "working with the leaseholders of the Green Hut to see what else can be done."

The implication clearly seems to be that Conservative councillors have been actively engaged in and/or supportive of the considerable efforts of the leaseholders to enhance public enjoyment of this area, which I understand from those directly involved in the Green Hut, to be untrue.

I don't doubt that all councillors work hard to improve our local area, but coming out in apparent support - which is unsubstantiated by anything practical - just because it is now, due to the hard work of the people involved in running it, a thriving concern, is highly unethical.
