POLICE have arrested two men after a dramatic police car chase in Moreton.

Merseyside Police were called at around 5.20am today (Monday, February 11) after a Nissan Note car had been abandoned on Gleggside in West Kirby by two men who ran from the scene.

A silver Volvo C30 was then spotted by police patrols just after 5.30am in Moreton and officers began to chase the car.

Two men then abandoned the car and ran off but were then detained on Upton Road.

An 18-year-old from Bebington and a 21-year-old from Moreton have been arrested on suspicion of two counts of theft of a car and burglary.

They are currently being questioned by detectives.

A video of the dramatic chase has been posted on social media, with many residents saying they were awoken by police sirens.

The footage shows the Volvo being chased by police cars on Hoylake Road before one of the men dressed in black attempts to flee from officers.
