A 13-YEAR-OLD boy has been left extremely shaken after being held at knifepoint for his bike in Prenton.

Merseyside Police received a report at around 3.40pm on Thursday, January 24 that the teenager has been riding a mountain bike in Holmlands Drive with friends when a masked man approached him.

The man threatened the boy with a knife before the thief grabbed the bike and rode away from the scene.

At around 5pm the bike was found dumped on a nearby field.

Officers say the offender is white, around 16-years-old and was wearing a mid-grey puffer style jacket, black combats and a black face covering.

The boy was uninjured in the attack but has been left extremely shaken.

The incident is believed to have prompted nearby Woodchurch High School to send a warning out to parents.

In an email, the school said: "Please be aware that there had been two serious incidents recently in the subways leading to the path behind the Fender running between Prenton and Noctorum.

"Please advise your child/ward if they have to stay late after school at a club or on detention please make arrangements for them to get home safely via an alternative route.

"There will be staff on duty in the Subway between Woodchurch High and Foxfield School at home time."

Merseyside Police are now urging anyont who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Detective inspector Laura Lamping said: "For a young teenager to be threatened and robbed of their property in broad daylight is obviously upsetting for a young boy.

"If you were in the park or nearby and saw this incident, please get in touch.

“There is no place in our communities for threatening behaviour and the use of weapons, so help us keep the green spaces of Wirral for what they are intended: places to walk, play, exercise and enjoy.”
