AN 18-YEAR-OLD sports star is up for a top award at this year's England Golf Awards.

Louise McLoughlin, from Bromborough Golf Club, is one of four finalists up for England Golf's Young Ambassador of the Year Award in association with the Golf Foundation.

She will find out if she's won the accolade at the Royal Lancaster London on Thursday, March 21 at a gala dinner hosted by BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker.

A Girls Golf Rocks Ambassador, Louise's love for the sport came when she was 11-years-old and she has played for Cheshire since she was 14.

Over the years she has volunteered at tasters and at other events at seven different venues and has also visited local schools to encourage other girls to take part.

Lady captain of Bromborough Golf Club, Jill Holmes said: "She’s always got a smile and a cheery word of encouragement.

"Louise is a happy, charismatic girl who deserves to do well by her positive mental attitude and endless enthusiasm.”

Louise will be up against; Ella Baker from Warley Woods Golf Course in the West Midlands; Jessica Pilgrim from Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire; and Georgina Wrixon from Ashley Wood Golf Club, Dorset.

England Golf chief executive Nick Pink said: “The judges were swept away by these fantastic young people who really love golf and share their pleasure with such enthusiasm.

"It’s hugely encouraging to know that the future of the game is in the hands of players like these.”
