A CHARITY supporting children with cerebral palsy is urging Globe readers to sign up for local fundraising runs.

A number of parents whose children attend sessions run by Stick'n'Step have signed up to take part in the Chester 10k on Sunday, March 10 or the Essar Chester 2019 Half Marathon on Sunday, May 19, and there is still time to join them.

The charity's head of fundraising, Jenny Snell, said: "With over 90 children attending classes, free of charge, once or twice a week at our two centres, fundraising is of paramount importance to us.

"We are so proud of our team of runners, who are working really hard to improve their fitness ahead of these events.

"We have a number of places left to fill for the 10k and the Half Marathon so anyone interested in joining our team should get in touch.

"Of course we would also be delighted to hear from anyone signing up to either event, who is looking for a charity to fundraise for too.”

Among those training for the Chester 10k and the Chester Half Marathon for is Claire, from Ellesmere Port, whose five-year-old Max attends Stick'n'Step sessions.

She said: "I really want to support Stick 'n' Step and give back to this amazing charity that has helped Max."

Leanne, who has been bringing her three year old son Kaan to Stick 'n' Step for five months said: "Stick 'n' Step feels like a family. I want to raise money for an amazing place that brings out the best in our children.

"I am gradually building up my running distances and I hope to raise £200 for the charity in the Chester 10k."

Also taking part is Another mum, Alexa, from Chester, who has been bringing her son Finlay, 12 to Stick 'n' Step for three years, says she has never taken part in an event like this before but wants to give something back to the 'amazing charity' that has supported Finlay.

She is building her fitness with Pilates and martial arts.

The charity offers support services to children with cerebral palsy and their families.

It provides the children with totally free of charge conductive education sessions, allowing them to gain the skills they need to live independent lives.

In total, 94 children from across the region attend these sessions weekly or twice weekly at the charity's Wallasey and Runcorn centres.

Anyone interested in signing up for the charity runs can contact its fundraising team on info@sticknstep.org or call the Wallasey branch on 0151 638 0888 or Runcorn on 01928 573777.
