BETSI Cadwaladr University Health Board has moved up 14 places in a list of the UK’s top lesbian, gay, bi and trans inclusive employers.

BCUHB is the only Welsh health organisation to make the latest Stonewall list.

It has achieved its highest ever ranking jumping 14 places from 51st place in 2018 to 37th place for 2019.

Stonewall campaigns for the equality of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people.

Sally Thomas, head of equality and human rights for BCUHB, said, “We are absolutely delighted with our Stonewall ranking for 2019. It represents the hard work our Health Board has done to ensure that LGBT+ people feel supported, equal and welcome in our organisation.

“We work across the health board promoting equality for all the protected characteristics outlined in the Equality Act.

“We work to improve the way everyone accesses healthcare and works for the organisation, and one of our key areas of focus, over the last year, has been on LGBT+ issues.”

This year’s Top 100 was the largest ever with 445 employers from across different sectors, vying for a coveted spot in the list.

“In putting together the top 100, Stonewall collects more than 92,000 anonymous responses from employees on their experience of the UK’s workplace culture and diversity.
