A CHARITY night is being held in memory of a Wirral woman who dedicated her life to transforming the lives of local young people.

Sam Curley, who was volunteer and training manager at The Hive Youth Zone in Birkenhead, passed away in October at the age of 49.

Now her daughter Holly, a 19-year-old student, is organising a Valentine’s Charity Ball at Leasowe Castle on Friday, February 15 to raise funds for Wirral Hospice St John's.

Holly said: "The support and care my mum received during her time with them was amazing.

"The charity night is to give back a little of the kindness and attention that all the staff at St John’s give every day."

Sam, who spent 15 years as volunteer co-ordinator at Wirral Youth Offending Service, began her special relationship with The Hive when she took up the role of recruiting and training an army of volunteers to support her vision of transforming the lives of young people in Wirral.

Holly explained: “She ensured others were always put first and her desire to make a difference was irrepressible.

"Her mission was simply to inspire and engage everyone to be the best they could be and her kind and caring nature undoubtedly changed the lives of countless young people.

"She made everyone feel special."

The charity night, with Holly being helped with organisation by her grandmother Annette Hodgson, is to be a formal “dress up” occasion. There will be live entertainment, dancing and buffet.

Tickets are £15 and can be obtained by contacting Holly by email at Hol_Curl@live.co.uk or by going to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/samcurley
