PLANS for a new care home for children and young people with behaviour difficulties have been submitted to Wirral Council.

The plans, which would see a house transformed into a centre for up to five children, are for New Ferry, and would help those who are emotionally challenged or suffer from behaviour difficulty.

A design and access statement submitted along with the plans said: “The care home would be run by a reputable organisation with vast amount of experience in running care homes for children around the Merseyside area.”

It would mean long-term accommodation for children between eight and 17, as well as those making the transition into foster care.

The Birkenhead development on Seafield Road would also have two parking spaces, with non-resident care staff working shifts.

A decision on the application, which was submitted in November and validated in January, will now be made by the council’s planning team.

The report added: “The site is surrounded with a mixed use of developments from industrial, leisure, and residential. The site is approximately a three-mile radius from Birkenhead town centre.”
