TWO men have been arrested after a man suffered a serious head injury during an 'altercation' in Ellesmere Port.

Emergency services were called just before 1am on Wednesday, January 16 to the junction of Whitby Road and Cromwell Road following reports of an altercation involving three men.

During the incident a 27-year-old man from Ellesmere Port suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital.

He is still receiving treatment at the hospital.

A 23-year-old man from Wirral and 24-year-old man from Ellesmere Port have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

They are currently in custody assisting detectives with their enquiries.

However officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the event or has CCTV or dashcam footage that may help their investigation to get in touch.

Detective constable Mark Hughes said: “With a man having sustained a serious head injury, we are determined to establish exactly what happened and are appealing for anyone who thinks they may be able to help us with our investigation to contact the team here at Ellesmere Port Police Station on 101.

“If you think that you witnessed, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of, anything that may be relevant to the investigation please get in touch.”
