REGARDING the recent letter about the selfish way vehicles are parked, this can also apply to a number of other issues that are dealt with in The Highway Code.

While great importance is given to the code before and during the driving test there is no deterrent after a driver passes the test to abide by The Highway Code.

This not only involves parking issues, which seem to be totally out of control across the whole of Wirral, but speeding and dangerous driving.

Regarding dangerous and unlawful parking there is no one body that will take responsibility and do anything about it or to try enforce what is written in the Code.

Perhaps some way to deter parking violations is to employ traffic enforcement officers who can issues spot fines.

Traffic wardens at present seem only able to concentrate on paid parking areas where a time limit has run out and not estate roads where it is not only dangerous but a hazard to blind and disable people and emergency services.

As we now have police community support officers is there not a case whereby roads can be patrolled and spot fines issued as required to possibly resolve this problem.

I suggest this would be self-financing because of the number of violations which would result in spot fines.
