RESIDENTS from a New Brighton care home have taken part in a 'Friendship Day' in a bid to combat isolation.
On Friday, January 4, residents from Athena Healthcare Group's Lighthouse Lodge enjoyed an afternoon at the Queens Royal Hotel as part of a day encouraging the elderly to age well in care homes.
Manager of the Lighthouse Lodge, Kerry Winstanley said: "I would like Lighthouse Lodge to be known that it is the care home which is involved in the community, as our saying ‘Lighthouse Lodge, in the heart of the community.'
"Friendship Day's are offered to families and friends and anyone wishing to make new friends if they may be feeling a little lonely.
"The Lighthouse lodge will be holding a community open day on Friday, February 1 between 2pm and 4pm."
