ROAD closures will be in place ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's visit to Birkenhead next week.
Prince Harry and Meghan will travel to Wirral on Monday, January 14 to see organisations that support and empower groups within the Birkenhead community.
On the day they will meet members of the public in Hamilton Square where they will also be viewing a new sculpture which marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Birkenhead war poet Wilfred Owen.
The Duke and Duchess, who are expecting their first child in Spring, will also visit Tomorrow's Women Wirral, an organisation that supports women in vulnerable situations and state-of-the-art youth zone The Hive.
A number of road closures will be in place for their visit, they include: Hamilton Square, Hamilton Street, Duncan Street and Camperdown Street.
Some car parks will also be closed.
A spokesman for Wirral Council said: "A limited number of roads will be closed in the Hamilton Square area from the evening of Sunday, January 13 in preparation for the Royal visit the following morning.
"Parts of Hamilton Square, Hamilton Street, Duncan Street and Camperdown Street are affected.
"The car parks on either side of the plaza in front of Birkenhead town hall and on the corner of Duncan Street and Hamilton Street will also be closed.
"Restrictions are expected to be lifted from lunchtime on Monday, January 14."
This will be Harry and Meghan’s first visit to the borough together and their first joint engagement of the year.
