POLICE are trying to trace the owners of two mountain seized after two men were arrested.

A 19-year-old man from Seacombe and a 16-year-old from Birkenhead were both arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of motor vehicles following a burglary at an outbuilding on Hesketh Drive, Heswall on December 11.

After a search of the 19-year-old's home, stolen items were recovered including a Black Merida and Black Nordic bike.

Both men have now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Inspector Bernard McHugh said: "We believe these bikes may have been taken from sheds or garages, and would appeal to anyone who believes one of the items may be theirs to check their sheds, garages and outhouses to see if they could belong to them.

"If you believe any of the items may be yours, please contact us so that we can verify the rightful owners."

Anyone with information on suspected burglary, or who recognises the items pictured, is asked to contact Merseyside Police on social media via @MerPolCC, call 101 quoting reference 18400063881, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.
