TRANMERE Rovers have extended the loan of midfielder Luke McCullough from Doncaster Rovers until the end of this season.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who has played international football for Northern Ireland, will be available for tonight's FA Cup third round tie against Tottenham Hotspur at Prenton Park.

McCullough has played a key role in helping Tranmere sit just five points off the automatic promotion places in League Two, playing every minute in the league since his arrival in August 2018.

Announcing McCullough's extension on the club's website, manager Micky Mellon said: "We are delighted because we know the value he adds to the squad.

"He has good experience and he does his role well.

"He has played very well so far for the club and we are delighted he is staying until the end of the season."

Now focused on the remainder of the season as a Tranmere Rovers player, McCullough admitted he has enjoyed his time so far at Prenton Park and is looking forward to seeing what the remainder of the 2018/19 term will bring.

He said: "The manager told me that he wanted me to stay and I am now just looking forward to the rest of the season.

"We have got over the Christmas period and we are still just outside the play-offs and the automatic promotion places.

"We want to kick on in 2019 and do as well as we can, starting against Tottenham."
