LEGENDARY TV funnyman Ricky Tomlinson has pledged his support for green energy after launching an electric car charging port at Pinnacle.

Birkenhead based electrical supplier Pinnacle unveiled its brand new electric car charging point from Rolec Services, a leading EV (Electronvolt) charging provider, at their branch on Turbine Road on Wednesday, December 19 during a suppliers event.

A plasterer by trade, Ricky had first popped into Pinnacle for supplies before striking up a close friendship with the team.

Ricky told the Globe: "I first met Pinnacle when I was picking up some stuff as I was doing a job not too far from here and the service was great and the advice was great.

"In fact I didn't need to get half the stuff I thought I did because it's all out of date.

"It's very important to support local businesses.

“They're talking about keeping the high-street alive, well this isn't on the high-street but it is a local shop in a local area and you've got to support it and got to make it do well.”

Pinnacle’s new electric car charging port will be for customers and suppliers in a bid to promote green energy.

Ricky added: "Green energy is the future, it's a serious thing. See all the traders will be in here doing the business, they can charge up.

"I think it's a step in the right direction.”

When asked what one of Ricky’s arguably most notable character’s Jim Royle, would say about green energy, he said: "Green energy?! What do you need that for?

"But even Jim would come around and instead of having all the lights on the Christmas tree he'd only have 50% of them on, to save money, he's not really saving money he's thinking of the environment, he's thinking green isn't he."
