A 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a leg injury after he was hit by a car in Wallasey.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident, which took place at the junction of Liscard Road and Martin's Lane at 4.25pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended and the teenager was taken to hospital with a leg injury described as non-life threatening.

The driver stopped at the scene to assist with enquiries.

Inspector Andy Minnery said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

"In particular if you passed the incident at around 4.25pm and have a dashcam, you may have footage that would assist our enquiries and we would urge you to check it and come forward.

"We also know that members of the public came to the aid of the injured boy before leaving the scene, and we would be very keen to hear from them as they too could have vital information."
