POLICE stepped up patrols in the Woodchurch estate in a bid to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.

The day of high visibility was carried out on Friday, December 14 and saw officers based at Sainsbury's in Upton give out home security devices, a bike marking service and advice.

Merseyside Police's Roads Policing unit was also stop checking cars to target drink and drug drivers.

Community inspector Paul Harrison said: "We have been carrying out a number of activities and I hope they send a clear message that we will not tolerate those people who disrespect our communities by engaging in anti-social behaviour.

"We will take all action possible to deter them from engaging in such behaviour and to bring them to justice if they do.

“We have strong relationships with partner agencies and work together with them on activities such as those that have taken place today to ensure we can ensure the Woodchurch estate and surrounding area is a safe place to live.

"We will continue to take action whenever the community tells us there are problems.

"I would appeal to anyone with information about anti-social behaviour and any criminal behaviour in their area to contact us and I can assure them that we will take action.

"We will be concentrating on areas where people have told us they are suffering the effects of this behaviour."
