CCTV have been released after a man was assaulted leaving him with a fractured skull, fractured eye sockets and a broken nose in a Birkenhead bar.

Merseyside Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the assault in Sherlocks on Sunday, October 28.

At around 3.20am, officers were called to the bar following reports that a man in his 20s had been assaulted.

The man was treated at hospital but still requires ongoing treatment.

Enquiries are ongoing and detectives are continuing to appeal for more information.

The assault led to the bar losing its licence on November 22.

Detective inspector Mike Dalton said: "This was a serious incident of violence which has led to the victim receiving appalling injuries we are particularly keen to speak to the male pictured, as we believe he could have vital information to assist our investigation.

"We are also keen to speak to anyone who saw the assault, who recognises the male pictured or has heard anything since, so we can identify those responsible and bring them to justice.

"Merseyside Police will continue to work closely with licensed premises across Wirral and Merseyside to ensure that those who enjoy our town centres are able to do so in a safe and enjoyable environment."
