AN old police HQ in Wirral is set to be handed a new lease of life.
Plans have been approved to change the old Well Lane Police Station in Rock Ferry into apartments.
They were pushed through by the council on Wednesday, and will now become four two-bedroom and two one-bedroom apartments
The application was submitted by applicant Piotr Szydlik will also mean a first-floor extension to the rear and associated external alterations.
The development in the detached period building will include six parking spaces for residents of the six homes.
When the police station was one of four to be put up for sale by Merseyside Police in 2015, the Well Lane office was described as a “beautiful old building” by police and crime commissioner Jane Kennedy.
The stations, which also included Chadwick Street Police Station in Moreton, Laird Street Police Station in Birkenhead and Hoylake Police Station were all put up for sale to make way for new community stations.
