DRIVERS have been stuck in the Birkenhead Tunnel for more than an hour due to a traffic light failure.
Queuing traffic in and around the town centre has been building up due to a power failure in Liverpool city centre.
Motorists are stationary on The Strand, Leeds Street and Scotland Road.
Bus operators are warning that services in and out of the city are running with 20 minute delays.
In a statement, Liverpool City Council said: "Due to a power failure, all city centre traffic lights have been affected and are not operating properly at this time.
"Scottish Power are working to resolve the issues.
"Apologies for any inconvenience caused."
Thereβs currently very heavy traffic in the Birkenhead Tunnel towards Liverpool, particularly towards the exit onto The Strand. Allow extra time.
