GUSTS of wind of up to 80mph are expected to sweep across Wirral this week.
Met Office forecasters have issued a severe weather warning for strong gales across Ireland and northern England for Friday, December 7 between 3 am and 12am.
People are being warned to expect road, rail, air and ferry service disruption plus closures to some roads and bridges.
In exposed areas such as the coast. there is the potential for 80mph winds while 70mph gales are expected elsewhere.
It has not yet been confirmed where the strongest winds will occur.
People are being urged to be wary of flying debris such a tiles being blown from roofs as they could cause injury and danger to life.
In areas such as New Brighton and West Kirby, people are warned to watch out for large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.
