A MAN has been charged with ill-treatment following an alleged incident at Broadgreen Hospital in July.

Merseyside Police said they were contacted by staff at the hospital at 7.25pm on Sunday, July 22 to an alleged incident involving a male care assistant and a female patient in her 70s.

The victim subsequently died in September, although her death is not connected to this alleged incident.

Santosh Bhatta, 31, from Lindale Close in Moreton has now been charged with ‘Ill Treatment by a Care Worker’ contrary to Section 20 of the Criminal justice and Courts Act 2015.

He has been conditionally bailed to Liverpool Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 15 January.

A statement from Broadgreen Hospital said: “We have taken appropriate action in relation to this matter and have supported the police fully in their investigation.

"We’d like to reiterate that there is no suggestion that other patients or their loved ones should be concerned for their safety.”
